How to get wax off the inside glass of a hurricane-style candle holder?

I must have used candles that were too large, the candle wax didn’t melt into the candle, but rather outside of it, forming an even wider candle, attached to the hurricane glass. I was able to lift off the glass before it cooled, but now how do I get the excess wax off the inside of the glass?

    heat water to almost a boil and soak it then just wash in hot soap and water

    For thick wax use butter knife when it gets soft to clean my candle holders fill my sink with as hot of water as can get from.
    For few minutes then let them soak in for thick wax should come off with paper towel for few minutes then the tap and then the wax should come off with as hot of water as hot of water as can.
